Census Bureau: 11% of people in Adair County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 19,839 citizens living in Adair County in 2021, 89% said they were only one race, while 11% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Adair County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was American Indian or Alaska Native, comprising 43.9% or 8,706 individuals. Following them, white accounted for 39.6% and totaled 7,862 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Adair County is 1% higher than the state average, which stands at 10%.
