#47-ranked Northeastern State freshman Valeria Teran claimed a three-set win and clinched them a 4-3 victory at #44-ranked Nebraska-Kearney Saturday afternoon.
Teran won her match in just over two hours, and after dropping set one 6-3, she only lost three games in the following two sets, 6-1, 6-2.
Saturday's win moves the RiverHawks to 7-4 overall (2-1 MIAA) and keeps them undefeated in six visits to UNK, who drops to 11-9 (2-3 MIAA).
"It was kind of an up-and-down match for us today, but we were able to fight and get the job done," said head coach Tim McLane. "I thought one and three doubles played great, maybe our best collectively of the year. Sandra getting us a quick second point was big as well. Then Alisha and Vale won a couple of really tight matches.
UNK is a tough team who competes well, and that was big for us to pull out that kind of match."
Sandra Mari Marti claimed six singles in just over an hour, 6-2, 6-0, and Alisha Moldakhmetova took two singles, 6-4, 7-6.
