Myka Heimbach scored her fifth goal of the season in the 80th minute as Northeastern State salvaged a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon at Missouri Western.
The draw is the eighth of the year for the RiverHawks (5-3-8, 2-3-4 MIAA), who earned a critical MIAA point and will head into the final weekend of play a win ahead of Rogers State and Missouri Southern for the final postseason transfer spot.
Missouri Western (5-7-4, 3-4-2 MIAA) broke the scoreless match in the 70th minute on a defensive misplay by the RiverHawks.
Northeastern State returned the favor and got the equalizer off a free kick when the ball deflected off the Griffons' keeper. A second bounce off Sydney Taylor's foot allowed Heimbach to score right in front of the MWSU goal.
The Griffons held a slight 11-to-10 edge on shots, with NSU having the advantage 6-to-5 on corners.
Sunday's draw is the first between the two programs in 11 meetings.
The RiverHawks will close out the regular season at home and will host Newman on Thursday at 7 p.m.
