Northeastern State shined in its home debut as they went 22-6 overall in singles against Arkansas Tech and Ouachita Baptist in the Second Annual Rumble by the River.
In standard match play, the RiverHawks would have earned four wins overall. Emilia Cosatto continued to shine this fall and went 4-0 in her singles matches and downed the 2022 Great American Conference Player of the Year Friday, in 6-3 sets over Tech's Lea Grinberg.
Cosatto is 9-1 overall this season in singles play, with a finish in the ITA Central Region Finals.
Sandra Mari Marti won all four singles matches and is 9-0 to start the fall. Sophomore Aubrey Bailey won her first two career matches, taking a 6-3, 6-2 result Friday over Ouachita Baptist and 7-5, 6-3 against Tech.
Following two weeks of individual play, NSU is 37-15 (.712) in singles and is off to their best fall start since 2014, when they went 43-17 (.717). By comparison to the previous season, they went 12-25 overall during the fall individual season.
The RiverHawks will close out final individual action on Oct. 7, when they will play at the MSU-Texas Fall Invitational.
