The Northeastern State women's soccer dropped a 2-0 result at No. 10 Central Oklahoma Sunday afternoon to open MIAA play.
Central (6-0-2, 1-0 MIAA) scored a goal on their first shot attempt in the 14th minute of the match and held the RiverHawks to four shots on goal.
The loss is the first of the season for NSU as they are dropped to 3-1-4 (0-1 MIAA). Heading into Sunday's match with their in-state rivals, NSU had finished with three consecutive draws.
Shots were even for both teams at ten, with the RiverHawks having a 6-2 edge on corners. Three of NSU's corners were in the match's final five minutes, where they were looking for an equalizer.
The final blow for NSU was in the end seconds of the match when Central scored its second goal.
Myka Heimbach had four shots, with two of them being on goal.
Northeastern State returns home Friday to host Emporia State at 7 p.m.
