Aitana Hernandez turned in a one-over-par score to lead Northeastern State to a 298 in their season opener Tuesday and are tied for third place at the Central Region Fall Preview.
NSU's first-round score is the lowest in a season debut as an MIAA member (since 2012) but landed them eight strokes back of Nebraska-Kearney. Henderson State is two back of them, with the RiverHawks tied with Arkansas-Monticello.
Hernandez had three birdies and 12 pars on the 5910-yard course and is tied for seventh on the leaderboard with a 73.
In her NSU debut, Hanna Lignell carded a 74 and is tied for 14th place. Nina Lee turned in a 75, placing her tied for 19th overall, and Yasmin Hang shot a 76 and is tied for 27th place.
Kelly Swanson, who redshirted last season, carded an 82 and is tied for 55th.
Juliana Botero Molina and Brooke King, both from Nebraska-Kearney, are tied for first place with 70s.
Northeastern State closes play out on Tuesday and is paired with Henderson State and Nebraska-Kearney starting at 9:50 a.m.
