Northeastern State University 20 RiverHawks earn MIAA Academic Football Honors

Josh Stettmeier and Ben Ward highlighted 20 MIAA Academic Football Honors for the RiverHawks.  The pair were named to the Association’s Academic Excellence list for having a perfect 4.0-grade point average 

Northeastern State was one of five programs in the MIAA to earn multiple Academic Excellence Award accolades, with just 16 student-athletes being named overall.   

An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

Both Stettmeier and Ward were on the MIAA’s Honor Roll, along with 18 others on the NSU’s football team.

The achievement of Academic Honor Roll was accomplished by 454 student-athletes – all 12 MIAA football competing institutions were represented. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll list, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 or above at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

First Year student-athletes and newcomers are not included in this release and will be announced at a later date.
